4-benzyloxy, also known as monobenzyl morrobenzene and  ether (mbeh), is an organic compound with  chemical formula c6h5ch2oc6h4oh. It is used as an external medicine for drug-induced depigmentation. It is a colorless solid and belongs to  monobenzyl ether. Monobenzone is soluble in alcohol, benzene and ether, almost insoluble in water.

4-benzyloxy is a kind of decolorizer for local use, which can decompose melanin in skin, prevent the formation of melanin in skin, and restore healthy color of skin without damaging melanin cells, thus playing the role of decolorization. Clinically, it is mainly used for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, such as various stains, senile plaques, vitiligo, melanoma and so on.

Function

1. Monobenzone Powder can decompose melanin in the skin, and prevent the formation of melanin in the skin, used for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, such as various spots, age spots, melanoma. In addition as intermediates in organic synthesis.

2. Monobenzone is used to treat the loss of skin color (vitiligo). It works by permanently removing color from normal skin located around skin with vitiligo.

3.Monobenzone may cause destruction of melanocytes and permanent depigmentation.

4.Monobenzone is also used to derive dyes for fiber dyeing and is used in the rubber industry.

Application

1. Monobenzone Powder is a compound used as a topical drug for medical depigmentation.

2. The topical application of monobenzone powder in animals decreases the excretion of melanin from melanocytes. The same action is thought to be responsible for the depigmenting effect of the drug in humans.

3. Monobenzone Powder may cause destruction of melanocytes and permanent depigmentation.

4. The histology of the skin after depigmentation with topical monobenzone powder is the same as that seen in vitiligo.

5. The epidermis is normal except for the absence of identifiable melanocytes.
