Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist, can inhibit myocardial and vascular smooth muscle on the Ca 2+ uptake, expandthe coronary artery, increase coronary blood flow, improve the heart muscle Ischemia tolerance, while it can expand the surrounding arterioles, reduce peripheral vascular resistance, relieve coronary spasm, increase coronary flow, improve myocardial hypoxia, and thus reduce blood pressure. Low-dose coronary dilation does not affect blood pressure, and is a good anti-angina drug. For the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease angina, no adverse effects on respiratory function, especially for angina caused by coronary artery spasm and angina pectoris with the best effect of respiratory obstructive disease, its
efficacy is better than β-blockers. It is also suitable for various types of hypertension, including severe and refractory
hypertension.
