Description
Zidovudine a disease-resistant poison, used in patients with AIDS or HIV/AIDS related syndrome and the treatment of immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
Lamivudine is a cytidine analog which acts as a potent reverse transcriptase inhibitor (nRTI). It is effective against both HIV reverse transcriptase 1 and 2, as well as hepatitis B reverse transcriptase. Lamivudine must be phosphorylated to its triphosphate form before it is active.
Stavudine is a nucleoside analog of thymidine that inhibits reverse transcriptase and has an in vitro activity against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is a white to off-white crystalline powder; melting point 161-166 ° C; soluble in water, slightly soluble in lower alcohols. The chemical name is (2'-3'-didehydro-2'-3'-dideoxythymidine (d4T). Reverse transcriptase is a method in which RNA can be transcribed into DNA to replicate genetic information from RNA to DNA. The enzyme, therefore also known as the RNA-reverse transcriptase inhibitor, is an antiretroviral drug that blocks the activity of retroviral reverse transcriptase. Function
