Chrysophanol is an anthraquinone compound and occurs naturally in Chinese herb Rheum officinale. It shows antimicrobial activity, and is an active component in many crude drugs having purgative properties. Rhubarb extract is one of the best plant extract to treat constipation, weak digestion, bellyache, acute appendicitis, acute infectious hepatitis, stasis catamenia, toothache, nose bleeding, acute conjunctivitis and so on.
