Jatrorrhizinechloride is an alkaloid isolated from Coptis chinensis. It has neuroprotective, antibacterial, antimalarial and antioxidant activities. Jatrorrhizinechloride is an effective inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) (icchemicalbook 50 = 872nm) with oral activity, with a selectivity of 115 times to BuChE. Jatrorrhizinechloride reduces serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) uptake by inhibiting the activity of uptake-2 transporter.

Functions

1. Being as diuretic and cooling herb that stimulates the liver and gall bladder. It has been used traditionally to lower fever and to reduce blood pressure and blood sugar levels;
